KERR at Aquaculture UK 2022 – Event Review & Highlights

It’s just over a month since the long anticipated Aquaculture UK 2022 event took place at The Macdonald Aviemore Resort, and as ‘The UK’s largest trade show for the AQUACULTURE community’ it certainly delivered.

With the industry and visitors coming face to face for the first time since the previous 2018 event, there was a was a calm and relaxed feel about this popular in-person exhibition and simultaneous conference programme that took place from 3-5 May but also a real ‘buzz’ when the show was at its busiest.

Now organised by Diversified Communications and officially opened by Mairi Gougeon MSP and Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs & Islands, the event delivered on all fronts and provided a valuable opportunity for the UK Aquaculture community to network, discuss the latest technology, discover innovative new products and meet key decision makers from across the industry.

Cameron Kerr, Director – Kerr Compressor Engineers commented:, “Four years is a long time between exhibitions and yet once we were in Aviemore for the Aquaculture UK 2022 event, it didn’t really feel any different and it was surprising how familiar and comfortable it felt to be meeting up again with the Scottish, UK and international Aquaculture community”. We were very happy with the whole event and credit to all the hard-working Aquaculture UK team for delivering a well organised, busy and successful event that saw a 9% increase in attendance on the previous 2018 event despite the pandemic and understandable concerns of both exhibitors and visitors following the enforced break”.

Cameron continued: “Exhibiting a full range of our energy efficient and reliable KAESER KOMPRESSOREN air products including rotary blowers, MOBILAIR portable compressors, rotary screw compressors, refrigerant air dryers, compressed air filtration and reciprocating compressors, Kerr Compressors and KAESER HPC occupied two prominent stand positions both inside and outside the marquee and valued the opportunity of meeting face to face with existing customers, interesting new contacts and prospects in addition to networking with our 200+ fellow exhibitors, discussing and exploring many new exciting opportunities with key decision makers from across the industry”.

“We have all had to adapt to the new normal both during and post Covid and whilst Kerr Compressors remained fully operational, prioritising and supporting the supply of compressed air products and services to essential services, key customers and many industries including Aquaculture (whilst adhering to the restrictions during the pandemic), we very much welcomed the opportunity to get back in front of our customers to exhibit and discuss the latest developments, technology and our new products. Well planned, well organised and well attended in-person trade shows such as Aquaculture UK will continue to provide an important opportunity and focus for industry and business communities and Kerr Compressors will continue to attend and support these valuable events”.

The key messages from Kerr Compressors and KAESER HPC at Aquaculture UK 2022 were to underline the commitment of developing and providing specialist products and air solutions for both onshore and offshore Aquaculture applications, designed and built to provide maximum durability in the challenging environments to ensure maximum process reliability to minimise the risk of downtime. Attracting considerable attention on the outside stand was a used yet impressively preserved and smart looking KAESER MOBILAIR M50 skid mounted portable compressor, despite the fact that it had been operating in harsh conditions on a marine fish farm support barge for several years. It provided a great example of the specific Aquaculture protection features developed by KAESER HPC and Kerr that helps ensure the reliable and effective operation of compressors to operators of fish farms.

The outside stand also featured a zero emission, silent running electric driven KAESER MOBILAIR M50E e-power portable compressor that has been attracting interest from across an industry that is increasingly conscious about carbon emissions and actively working to consider the environmental benefits that alternative compressor technology can provide . In addition, reflecting the importance of reliable and efficient low-pressure blower / exhausters to sophisticated, automated pneumatic fish feeding systems for Aquaculture, the inside stand featured both a large open frame KAESER OMEGA DB166C and a compact packaged CB131C rotary blower / exhauster suited to Aquaculture feed system lines / effluent treatment systems and feed system conveying lines respectively.

Adrian Feiler, Business Development Manager – Aquaculture – KAESER Kompressoren said: “It was great to be back in Scotland and at Aviemore to support the UK’s number one KAESER HPC Distributor, Kerr Compressors. I very much enjoyed the opportunity to meet in person again with so many existing KAESER customers and potential new prospects from both the UK and our global market”. He continued: “I found the previous 2018 event a busy and interesting exhibition, learning about the technology and innovations in the UK Aquaculture community. Following the enforced break in trade shows globally, it’s great that I was able to attend Aquaculture UK 2022 and I’m pleased to say that the event surpassed my expectations both in attendance and with the variety of products, technology and services on display. KAESER air products and solutions are used in the whole value chain of Aquaculture from hatcheries, over grow out facilities, on land as well as offshore and I look forward to the opportunity of working closely with our customers through Kerr Compressors in Scotland to continue to develop and improve the specialist air products and solutions that KAESER provide.”

Compressed air, nitrogen and fluid power specialists in Scotland for over 40 years and 5 Star rated on Google, Kerr Compressors specialise in providing energy efficient, reliable air compressors, low pressure blowers, vacuum pumps, pneumatic and fluid power solutions to the UK aquaculture industry. In conclusion, Cameron Kerr said: “Covering all aspects of fish farming applications and working with many of the key players in the industry, our experienced team and specialist engineers look forward to advising and working closely with all our Aquaculture customers to provide the most energy efficient KAESER air system solutions to help control costs and reduce their impact on the world’s natural resources while delivering maximum performance.”
