Technical Sales Engineer Vacancy

We are seeking an outgoing and professional sales representative to join and strengthen our busy, experienced and expanding team as a Technical Sales Engineer.

Covering Central & Southern Scotland, the successful candidate will manage customer accounts and increase sales, identifying and developing potential new customers while meeting personal sales goals.

Assisting customers with the design, specification, selection and investment in our quality, energy-saving products, systems and innovative solutions, you will be responsible for delivering low compressed air costs with maximum availability.

The successful applicant will be based out of our Glasgow (Head Office) Sales & Service Centre. You may also be required to travel to customers throughout Scotland to provide sales assistance and technical guidance in support of our expert Sales & Service Centre teams in Perth, Aberdeen and Inverness.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of this interesting role include the following:

  • Excel at sales to customers.
  • Provide technical sales support to existing and new customers over the phone or in person.
  • Build rapport with customer account contacts, business owners and our market-leading suppliers.
  • Manage accounts and larger projects.
  • Ensure customers know the benefits of quality products and services to quote and sell them successfully.

REQUIREMENTS

Ideally, applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • At least two years of practical sales experience selling industrial equipment or a similar technical product.
  • Transferable knowledge and skills from a sound industrial or engineering background.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to finding new business and developing sales opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, a positive ‘can do’ attitude, and a ‘hands-on’ approach to their responsibilities.
  • A willingness to contribute to driving and achieving growth.

SKILLS

In addition to the above, we are looking for a candidate with the following skills:

  • Exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent negotiation and closing techniques.
  • Good time management and organisation.
  • Good communication and IT proficiency.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure as an individual or part of a busy team.
  • Excellent telephone manners.
  • Good command of the English language (written and spoken).
  • Numeric and good mathematical skills.
  • The ability and desire to meet deadlines and achieve targets.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in the compressed air industry is desirable and preferred but not strictly necessary. We will provide a structured training programme for the right candidate.

As previously mentioned, evidence of a minimum of two years of practical sales experience with transferable skills is required. Ideally, applicants should also have good communication and organisational skills while demonstrating a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a ‘hands-on' approach to their sales responsibilities.


TERMS & HOW TO APPLY

In addition to a generous salary (related to experience and skills), there is the opportunity to earn a performance-related commission.
